River of Grass
Kelly Reichardt / US, 1994 / 74 min.
In search of excitement, a housewife in Florida is bored to tears and flees with a slacker amid the run down strip malls and cheap motels. Kelly Reichardt’s debut about two down-at-heel, wannabe criminals was shot on 16 mm.

Kelly Reichardt’s darkly comedic feature film debut returned the scriptwriter/director to the suburbs of southern Florida where she grew up with her father, a detective, and her mother, a narcotics agent. River of Grass, that was shot on 16mm, dissatisfied housewife Cosy and aimless slacker Lee think they have accidentally shot a man. They try to go on the run like every other outlaw couple before them. But what are they actually fleeing from?
