Shadow of a Doubt
Alfred Hitchcock / US, 1942 / 108 min.
Hitchcock’s favourite film based on the true story of a serial killer who killed a number of wealthy widows during the 1920s. Hitchcock plays a subtle game with doubles thereby dissecting American small town life in one of his more realistic films.

Serial killer Charlie Oakley (Joseph Cotten) hides out in the peaceful town of Santa Rosa with his sister Emma and niece Charlie, who know nothing of his murderous intent. His niece Charlie admires the charming man who can get women to do his bidding. However, she starts to have doubts about him.
