Shorts: Cosmologies
IDFA 2026
Playing with our perceptions, these experiential and conceptual short films create visceral encounters with the solar cycle on a sweeping cinematic scale.
Programme
Opera
This cinematic collage manipulates our perception through cleverly playing with light and darkness. A mysterious house slowly emerges at night along a rural road. See how an image can conceal reality—and what happens when that is no longer possible.
Forever...Forever
For 22 months, Johann Lurf filmed an ever-accelerating timelapse of the sun’s path. This overwhelming vision of the cosmos in motion must be seen on the big screen.
Eye Sun
Opening with a quote from Goethe, this experimental short film leads the viewer on a cosmic journey from the human eye to the sun, via three solar observatories in Peru.
