Terra Incognita: Sonic Terrain
An experiential closing to Terra Incognita, looking to technologies and navigating our hopes and fears of the unknown futures of our world.

Through the lens of two short films by Mexican film collective Collectivo Los Ingrávidos and expanded cinema artist Allison Leigh Holt, these works shed light on futuristic and ancestral visions and ways we can redirect our minds and energies for the present.
Followed by a live audio-visual performance by Peruvian digital artist Alex Guevara and Ukrainian sound artist Katarina Gryvul, weaving together sound, light, and imagery to create a multisensory experience that blurs the lines between reality and imagination.
Programme
Stitching the Future with Clues (Allison Leigh Holt, US 2021, 16’)
A neurodivergent-futurist manifesto asking viewers to consider feedback systems as theoretical frameworks, using animated diagrams, audio/video feedback processes, and expanded cinema techniques. The piece reveals, through a cybernetic lens, how neurodivergence can be viewed as a system of sense-making; one differently attuned to temporal, psychic, and environmental embodied existence, and holding key insights for urgently needed world-building.
Xiuhtecuhtli (Colectivo Los Ingrávidos, MX 2023, 16’)
This is a rhythmic invocation of the ancestral fire, in which dazzling flames reanimate bones and natural elements. This is the shining of colour.
Katarina Gryvul x Alex Guevara (Live AV) (40’)
A performance full of catharsis and emotional liberation, an intense and immersive experience between glitch and distorted images, reflecting the personal journeys of Katarina Gryvul and Alex Guevara.
Gryvul will also incorporate heavy, anxious breathing from her first panic attacks, which she experienced during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. An immersive live audiovisual performance tracing embodied experiences and sonic landscapes, offering an intense experience for audiences.Bio: Alex Guevara
