Stranger Than Paradise
Jim Jarmusch / US, DE, 1984 / 89 min.
Jarmusch’s first success is still seen as key moment in the history of independent film. John Lurie plays the lead in this drily comic portrait of a pair of post-punk twenty-somethings with no idea what to do with their lives. Winner of both a Golden Camera and a Golden Leopard.

New York 'hipster' Willie (jazz musician John Lurie) gets an unexpected visit from his sixteen-year-old Hungarian niece. After a few days, she leaves to visit an aunt in Cleveland. Willie and his friend Eddie start to find life really tiresome, and a year later decide to track down Eva; but the emptiness in their lives remains.
