Tempestad
Tatiana Huezo / MX, 2016 / 105 min.
This second feature-length documentary by Salvadorian-Mexican director Tatiana Huezo gives a free, associative impression of the impact of the drugs trade on Mexico and its inhabitants through the eyes of two women, who tell their stories mainly in voice-over.

In 2006, the Mexican government declared war on the many drugs cartels devastating the country. The consequences are well-known: the country became a narco-state controlled by the drugs mafia. In spite of putting troops on the streets, the government was unable to get a grip on the cartels; sometimes even becoming involved with them. The population now lives in fear, as corruption spreads far and wide.
