The Trouble with Harry
Alfred Hitchcock / US, 1955 / 100 min.
Seldom-screened The Trouble with Harry is a true exception in Hitchcock's oeuvre: not suspense, but rather absurd black humour based around the shenanigans surrounding the human remains of a man named Harry. With a magnificent performance from Shirley MacLaine, and music from Bernard Herrmann.

The corpse turns out to be that of Jennifer’s ex-husband Harry. Several people, including Jennifer herself (Shirley Maclaine) and rabbit-hunter Captain Wiles, believe they may be culpable to some extent in Harry’s death. Harry is buried, exhumed and buried all over again. In the meantime, it seems everyone had a bone to pick with Harry, and no one really mourns the passing of this man whose remains end up being passed around like a bizarre game of pass-the-parcel.
