Experience the virtual reality 8 Billion Selves with live accompaniment of experimental music by Spinvis and band. How can we, the eight billion people on Earth, consider ourselves unique while at the same time being part of the great primordial soup?
In the virtual reality experience 8 Billion Selves (Tibor de Jong, 2024, 35’) we travel through the world where 8 billion people are born, work, wage war, love, dance, make art and die. Meandering scenes, ranging from playful and natural to industrial and menacing, merge with a sound design performed live by legendary musician Spinvis and band.
Tibor de Jong, pseudonym Nemo Vos, creates poetic VR dream flights for adults. A recurring theme in his work is humanity, the human, us, in times of polarization and digitalism.
Doris Konings is a 3D artist. Where Nemo Vos creates VR worlds, Doris breathes life into them. In this collaboration under the name Studio Nemo Vos, Doris explores the possibilities of animation techniques and visual language.
8 Billion Selves was previously selected for, among others, Art Directions: immersive media at IFFR, Bolton Film Festival, UK (winner Best VR), Kaohsiung Film Festival, Taiwan (winner Best VR/360), XR Panorama, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Kurzfilmfestival Köln.
