Take a selfie and become the great-great-grandparent of a person 200 years in the future. What kind of world are we leaving behind for generations to come? In the collective smartphone experience Ancestors you embark on an exciting, collective journey six generations further.
In the interactive group experience Ancestors (Smartphone Orchestra, 2024, 70’), you and the other participants tell stories of those who come after us. Your smartphone guides you through a world in which the impact of climate change, technological progress and social challenges is increasing.
Using AI, your decisions and interactions shape the story and influence the collective outcome of the experience. Together you explore the challenges of tomorrow and discover how collaboration with your fellow players and with future generations is the key to a better world.
Ancestors is an immersive, participatory journey where the audience is part of the story. The unique combination of speculative fiction, interactive storytelling and real-time decision-making will leave you with food for thought long after the experience. Will humanity find solutions to these pressing challenges? And what role do you play in shaping that future? Ancestors was selected for IDFA Doclab 2024 and SXSW 2025 and won The Award for the Best use of Tech at the Miami Filmgate Interactive Festival.
