Amour
Michael Haneke / FR, AT, DE, 2012 / 125 min.
Equal parts subdued and deeply moving, Michael Haneke shows how an elderly couple deal with the decline of one of them. Her husband quite naturally, lovingly cares for her. On the minefield of aging. In memory of Jean-Louis Trintignant.

Amour is Haneke’s most intimate film yet. Without degenerating into melodrama he follows the shifting relationship between George (Jean-Louis Trintignant), Anne (Emmanuelle Riva) and their egocentric daughter (Isabelle Huppert). After a heart attack, eloquent piano teacher Anne is but a shadow of her former self.
