Andrey Tarkovsky. A Cinema Prayer

Andrej A. Tarkovski / IT, RU, SE, 2019 / 98 min.

An affectionate documentary on the life and work of Andrei Tarkovsky directed by his son. What also makes this documentary special is that Tarkovsky is telling his story himself, sharing with us his memories, his view on art and his ideas about nothing less than the meaning of human existence.

Rare audio recordings allow us to immerse ourselves in Tarkovsky's mysterious cinematic universe that has finally been revealed to us.

Tarkovsky’s son utilises never before released recordings of the poems of Arseni Tarkovsky, one of Russia’s greatest 20th-century poets and the director Andrej Tarkovsky’s father. Arseni’s poetry was a huge influence on Andrej’s films as he had a deeply felt cultural and spiritual bond with the former.
