Apocalypse Now: Final Cut
Francis Coppola / US, 1979 / 183 min.
Coppola’s epic on the insanity of the Vietnam war, starring Martin Sheen, Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper, has sometimes been described as a war in itself. The production costs went through the roof and the atmosphere on the set was extremely tense. Restored in 4K.

“This is not a film about Vietnam. This film is Vietnam.” Francis Ford Coppola's view of Apocalypse Now might sound like an exaggeration, but is in fact not so far from the truth. Lead actor Martin Sheen had a heart attack, the budget bloated to 31 million dollars and shooting got bogged down in four long, gruelling months in the jungle of the Philippines.
