Atlantide
Yuri Ancarani / IT, FR, US, MX, ES, 2021 / 100 min.
In the city of water, Venice, rowdy teens like Daniele don’t have souped-up mopeds, but super fast speedboats, ‘barchini’, that mean everything to them. Atmospheric, hyperrealist film transitions from dreamy opening to operatic conclusion.
In Venice life plays out on the water, so adolescents don’t drill out the cylinder heads on their mopeds, but work on their super fast speedboats the ‘barchini’. The muscled, suntanned boys carve their initials into the city’s wooden mooring posts alongside their machines’ maximum speeds.
