Barbara Hammer, who was a member of the second wave of feminism, ambitiously dedicated her entire life to fighting for queer acceptance. A pioneer of queer cinema, Hammer (1939 – 2019) started making films aged 27, and came out as a lesbian in her early 30s: “My life was lived on film”. The enormous wealth of footage about her life constitutes the basis for Barbara Forever, Brydie O’Connor’s feature film debut that does justice to Barbara’s stunning, charismatic personality.
