Blood Simple
Ethan Coen, Joel Coen / US, 1984 / 97 min.
The feature film debut of the illustrious Coen brothers. A clumsy private eye does what he can to murder a two-timing wife (Francis McDormand).

Blood Simple is a darkly comic low-budget thriller about a man who hires an impossibly dumb detective to get rid of his unfaithful wife. The plotlines are ingeniously twisted. It is also the feature film debut of brilliant actress Frances McDormand (Fargo), who married director Joel Coen shortly afterwards. The brothers directed, edited and produced the film themselves and also managed to attract renowned cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld for their debut.
