Death in Venice
Luchino Visconti / IT, FR, 1971 / 131 min.
In memory of Björn Andrésen, who passed away on 25 October this year. As a fifteen-year-old he was stunning as the androgynous Tadzio in Luchino Visconti’s adaptation of Thomas Mann’s novella Death in Venice. The ‘most beautiful boy in the world’ subsequently never really found his place in life.

Andrésen was finally – after a seemingly endless odyssey – cast by Visconti as Tadzio, a stunningly beautiful boy who becomes the obsessive object of yearning for tormented composer Gustav Aschenbach (Dirk Bogarde).
