Hiroshima mon amour
Alain Resnais / FR, JP, 1958 / 90 min.
Post-war classic by Alain Resnais in which a French actress (Emmanuelle Riva) falls in love with a Japanese architect (Eiji Okada) in Hiroshima. Based on a script by Marguerite Duras. In this exceptional work past and present merge seamlessly.

Both the actress and the architect have traumas caused by the war: the woman had an affair with a German solider and was arrested as a traitor; the young architect experienced the horror of the atom bomb.
