HKU: This frenzied perplexion...
HKU: This frenzied perplexion...
This frenzied perplexion, veeringly reflected from one truculent defiance to the next, is the undying feeling we call the present: with our undivided attention we stare at images containing all vices of mankind

In the framework of the second-year course Society a band of students of the HKU Utrecht University of the Arts Faculty of Film has researched power relations and dynamics in societal systems and outsider communities that exist and operate on the fringes, in peripheries and liminal spaces and challenge the existing frameworks.
We will present a hybrid program, that in itself is a live video essay, appropriating and transforming traditions of expanded cinema and the found footage and archive film. Inspired by Sara Ahmed’s essay on encountering strangers and David Graeber’s research into piracy practices the program hopes to invite rebellious questions about image culture in a time of abundance and disintegration.
