Leviathan
Véréna Paravel, Lucien Castaing-Taylor / US, 2012 / 87 min.
Artistic duo Paravel & Castaing-Taylor immerse you in life on a fishing boat. Trawler, crew, fish, sea, wind and gulls become an organic whole: humans as part of almighty nature. Eye is currently hosting a Paravel & Castaing-Taylor exhibition.

Spectacular is an understatement for what Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel managed to achieve with their impression of life on a fishing trawler heading out into the North Atlantic to fish at exactly the spot where Melville’s mad Captain Ahab hunted the white whale Moby Dick.
