Mond
Kurdwin Ayub / AT, 2024 / 93 min.
Austrian choreographer/performer Florentina Holzinger took this year's the Venice Biennale by storm with the darkly humorous installation SEAWORLD VENICE. Fellow Austrian and critical spirit Ulrich Seidl acted as producer for Mond, Holzinger’s debut as a film actor.

When, some years ago, director Kurdwin Ayub (1990) asked Austrian choreographer/performance artist Florentina Holzinger to take on the lead role in Mond, the first part of the Sonne-Mond-Sterne trilogy, she readily agreed – even though she’d never appeared in front of the camera in a feature film before. Holzinger’s most recent work, SEAWORLD VENICE, was a big hit at the Venice Biennale 2026.

Eye Filmmuseum presents Ulrich Seidl – Über das Leben, die Liebe und den Tod, the first exhibition – and the first complete film overview – of the renowned Austrian filmmaker in the Netherlands. Featuring a wealth of early, little-known and newly commissioned (film) works, the exhibition confronts visitors with the lives of a number of seemingly ordinary individuals, people who try to, in their own ways, make something of life in a late-capitalist society in which meaning has been replaced by consumerism.
