Robert Altman / US, 1975 / 159 min.
Robert Altman’s magnum opus can now be seen in this 4K restoration. Kaleidoscopic portrait of America in the seventies, following some twenty characters whose paths cross during the primary elections in Nashville. The all-star cast includes Elliot Gould, Julie Christie and Keith Carradine.

In the mid-’70s, the US was in deep crisis: the Vietnam war had been lost and the Watergate scandal left deep scars. Cities were disintegrating and paranoia gripped the political system. Robert Altman – known at that point mainly for the TV series and feature films M*a*s*h and McCabe & Mrs. Miller –captured the zeitgeist by bringing no less than 24 characters together in Nashville, Tennessee.
