Queer Black Cinema
An evening presented by visual artist Judith Leysner and Nagaré Willemsen, visual artist and co-founder and coordinator of the Black Student Union at the Sandberg Instituut and Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Her practice revolves around dissecting the white gaze and integrating the discourse on post-coloniality, identity, whiteness, and social psychology. The USB Black Student Union is an organisation that works on a safe and inclusive environment within both academies and stretching the limitations of the curriculum.
With a lecture and interview by the Afro-Brazilian Dutch multimedia artist and activist Robin Ramos, moderated by Nagaré Willemsen. The opening performance Soft Histories - Once again with feeling is by Jeanine van Berkel, a film screening of Stranger by artist Dianthus, the short film Grenzeloos Zijn (2018) by Robin Ramos, the short film De Kroon (2019) and the main film is Tongues Untied ( 1989) by Marlon Riggs. The USB-Black Student Union is an organization that works on a safe and inclusive environment within both academies as well as broadening the boundaries of the curriculum.
