The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu
Andrei Ujica / RO, FR, DE, 2010 / 180 min.
For more than twenty years, Nicolae Ceausescu ruled his people with an iron fist, until the ‘Great Oak of the Carpathians’ came to an ignoble end in front of a firing squad on 25 December 1989. Ujica made a compelling political satire based on the public appearances of this former farmer’s son who rose from humble beginnings as an apprentice shoemaker to become a dictatorial communist ruler.

Dana Bunescu, the film”s editor, will be present at the screening on 9 January. Afterwards she will be interviewed by Dominique Nasta, author of books on Romanian cinema and professor in film studies.
