In Nolan’s version of Homer’s epic about Odysseus, it is the all-American Matt Damon who plays the tormented hero. After successfully destroying arch-rival Troy, Odysseus and his men spend a decade journeying home to Ithaca, where his wife Penelope waits. During this time, they are subject to many trials and tribulations, including the cyclops Polyphemus, the seductive Sirens, the passage between Scylla and Charybdis, as well as the evil sorceress Circe. And, once he is finally back home, he first has to recapture the throne with the help of his son.
