Many traditional film laboratories have gone out of business since the so-called digital rollout in 2011/2012 when, in most Western countries, the production, distribution and projection of film prints was replaced by a digital film workflow. Only a few specialized laboratories have survived. One of them is L”Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, which has become one of the leading laboratories for film restoration in Europe today. Many important titles have been restored here, including Charlie Chaplin”s oeuvre. The director of L”Immagine Ritrovata, Davide Pozzi, will address the laboratory”s history and expertise and he will illustrate some recent projects, focusing on the restoration of A Fistful of Dollars (1964), which will be fully screened during the session.

Guest: Davide Pozzi (director l”Immagine Ritrovata, Bologna)

Screening:

A Fistful of Dollars (Sergio Leone, IT/SP/DE, 1964, 99 min)
