Film between exhibition and archive

Dive deeper into the world of film as an art form, medium, and cultural heritage through a combined and in-depth visit to two Eye locations. This programme introduces both the museum presentation of film and the richness of Dutch film heritage, including time for independent research.

The programme starts at Eye Filmmuseum, where you will take part in a guided tour of our temporary exhibition, which always explores the intersection between art and film. Film is approached from artistic, historical, and societal perspectives, with attention to analysis, context, and critical reflection. This is followed by time for a self-guided visit to the permanent exhibition What is Film?.

After the tour, you will walk approximately 30 minutes to the Eye Study, the largest film library and media collection in the Netherlands. Here, you will receive an introduction to the collection and research possibilities. Students will then work independently with the material and conduct their own research.

For groups of up to 30 students, the programme is organised in two subgroups that alternate between the museum and the Eye Study.

This programme is suitable for MBO, HBO and WO students who wish to deepen their knowledge of film studies, media, cultural history, or visual analysis.
