SEE NL will carry out a variety of activities this autumn to increase the visibility of Dutch drama series and XR experiences outside the Netherlands and boost the country's international positioning.
Pilot programmes for Immersive Productions and Drama Series
This summer, SEE NL has received additional budget from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science for setting up and implementing pilot programmes in the period August-December 2025 for the international promotion of high-end drama series and immersive productions.
Immersive Productions
SEE NL will expand its existing support from VR to XR. For instance, we will help producers with presentations at international festivals, making translated or technically modified versions to increase screening options and organising showcases and focus programmes in collaboration with festivals such as DokLeipzig, Geneva International Film Festival and Cinekid. As part of the pilot programme, we will also explore whether and how SEE NL, in conjunction with e.g. the Netherlands Film Fund, Creative Industries Fund NL and the Moonshot Initiative, can contribute to solving distribution bottlenecks in the XR sector and to developing a sustainable international ecosystem for immersive art.
Drama Series
Our goal is to increase awareness of the Netherlands as a producer of high-quality drama series and to showcase creators and productions at international festivals and markets such as MIA Market Rome, Content London and Series Mania. At the same time, we aim to acquire the knowledge and networks needed for effectively supporting the international launch of series.
More financial backing
With the aid of additional funding from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, SEE NL is increasing the options for financial backing up to the end of 2025. We are extending the use of travel and publicity grants, so that creators and productions can raise their international profile. A budget is also available for supporting five XR projects in making new or translated versions in the event of demonstrable interest from an international distributor.
Furthermore, we will publish two separate catalogues for drama series and immersive experiences that offer a comprehensive overview of the most successful productions of recent years, as well as the latest and upcoming productions. These catalogues will be sent to international festival programmers, sales agents and distributors.
