Steven Spielberg
Master Storyteller
8 July — 31 August 2016

The programme includes twenty image-defining films made by Spielberg in the course of his momentous career, from the early thriller Duel (1971) to the dramatized portrait of President Lincoln (2012), and his new film The BFG. The programme also features a selection of twelve films reflecting Spielberg’s influence as a producer.
From 8 July through August 2016, Eye Filmmuseum presents a retrospective of the work of the most successful director of all time.

The BFG
During the retrospective, Spielberg's new film, The BFG, can be seen, both in the Dutch spoken and original version. The film is based on Roald Dahl's book.
Coparck vs Duel
Duel (1971) will also screen in a special screening with a live soundtrack by Coparck. Martin Koolhoven: "Perhaps Duel is the film that most clearly shows Spielberg's pure talent. It is unbelievable what he was already able to do at the age of 25, with hardly any budget and only two weeks of filming."

Triple bills
For die-hard fans and curious Spielberg newcomers, we'll organise a number of marathon screenings of the first three Indiana Jones films and the Back to the Future trilogy.
