This third feature film from Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge (Tanta agua) is a heartwarming, magical-realist story of mourning and undying friendship. Following her best friend’s death, Adela embarks upon a journey through time, rediscovering joy along the way.
At her best friend Elena’s funeral, Adela doesn’t really feel any affinity with the other mourners saying their farewells. The hushed voices, the harsh strip lighting – it’s all so different from the joy Elena used to spread.
Preliminary film
Before the screening of Agarrame fuerte watch the short film Beş (7') from 2021 by Ayla Çekin Satijn from the Eye collection. Asli, a young Turkish lesbian, returns to her hometown to attend her childhood friend's henna party. She is afraid of not being accepted, but when she sees her old friends again, she discovers that she is the one with the greatest prejudices.
