Blue Velvet
David Lynch / US, 1986 / 120 min.
What's going on behind the freshly painted doors of the town of Lumbertown? Dark, dryly humorous story about small-town America, with Dennis Hopper in the iconic role of Frank Booth. Screening in tribute to David Lynch, Master of the Macabre.

With Blue Velvet, Lynch revealed what moves behind the facades of neat, everyday reality. When the film was released, critics spoke of Lynch's “dissection of the American soul” and a “portrait of the American Nightmare”, full of violent eroticism and criminality.

In Memoriam David Lynch
The creator of classics such as Twin Peaks, Eraserhead and Mulholland Drive died on 15 January 2025 from complications of the lung disease COPD. Lynch, an inveterate chain smoker, was 78 years old. A number of films by the sympathetic Master of the Macabre can now be seen in Eye Classics.
