Eureka
Lisandro Alonso / AR, FR, PT, NL, MX, 2023 / 147 min.
In Eureka, director Lisandro Alonso works with actor Viggo Mortensen for the second time, following Jauja (2014). That film brought Alonso into contact with the residents of the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota, where a large part of the film was shot.

An archetypical cowboy (Mortensen) plods into an archetypical western town on an archetypical revenge mission. But wait: this is 'just' a film within the film, which then transports the viewer to a contemporary Native American reservation where native police officer Aliana is confronted by the consequences – violence, public drunkenness – of grinding poverty.
In Eye and in national cinemas.
