Le journal d'une femme de chambre
Luis Buñuel / FR, IT, 1964 / 96 min.
Servant girl Céléstine (Jeanne Moreau) reveals the suppressed frustrations and secret vices of a wealthy Normandy family, headed by monsieur Monteil (Michel Piccoli). A tale of murder unfolds in the background.

A young woman comes to work as a servant for a rich family in the Normandy countryside. All of the people around her – fellow servants and members of the family alike – have their own peculiarities. Disgusted by so much hypocrisy, she takes revenge in her own (subtle) way, during the politically turbulent 1930s.
