Hungary, 1953 – three years before the uprising. Two women – his mother and his wife – are awaiting the return of political prisoner János. A subtle portrait of life under the Stalinist regime from the great Hungarian director Károly Makk.
One day, he suddenly just disappeared: János, a filmmaker who became a political prisoner. His wife Luca and his bedridden elderly mother – who Luca cares for – are awaiting his return. Each has found her own way to deal with their loss. To reassure the old woman, Lucia has fictional letters sent to her from America, telling her that János is working on a film there.
