All Dick Maas films back on the big screen

6 November 2025 – Eye presents a complete overview of the work of Dick Maas, nicknamed 'the Dutch blockbuster king'. In 2026, Maas will celebrate his 75th birthday, which will also be forty years since the popular comedy Flodder shook up the film landscape.

Digitally restored version of The Underground Orchestra

22 October 2025 – Heddy Honigmann’s documentary classic back on the big screen, from 18 December. Also available on the Eye Film Player.

Tilda Swinton – Ongoing: On Screen & In Conversation

24 June 2025 – Alongside the specially curated exhibition Tilda Swinton – Ongoing, Eye presents an extensive contextual programme featuring Scottish performer, artist, and fashion icon Tilda Swinton in conversation with the artistic collaborators who have contributed new work to the exhibition. Complementing these live events, Eye will screen more than forty films from Swinton’s body of work in its cinemas, alongside retrospectives dedicated to Joanna Hogg and Derek Jarman.

Three new Programmers of the Future present their film programmes this July

27 May 2025 – Including films about the magic of a spontaneous encounter in a public space, folklore, fairytales and mythology, and memory as an act of resistance. Kato van der Speeten, Alicia Bergamelli and Humie Pourseyf make up the third group in this annual training programme for future film programmers.

Sohrab Hura winnaar Eye Art & Film Prize 2025

20 May 2025 – The Indian artist Sohrab Hura (1981) is the eleventh winner of the Eye Art & Film Prize. Hura is awarded the prize for the compelling way he captures today's surreal reality in images.

Eye Filmmuseum puts Akira Kurosawa’s films back on the big screen

12 May 2025 – After an absence of more than 30 years, Eye Filmmuseum is bringing the films of one of Japan’s greatest filmmakers, Akira Kurosawa, to the big screen again, some in digitally restored versions. With the rerelease of 4K restorations of Seven Samurai, Ikiru, High and Low and Yojimbo in Dutch cinemas.

Another summer of Previously Unreleased!

8 May 2025 – Every summer Eye presents films that were shown at prominent festivals but did not reach Dutch cinemas. In 2025, a selection of colourful films will be shown, from different countries such as Canada, Lithuania and Uruguay. 10 July through 28 August 2025.

Exhibition Garrett Bradley – Revolutions

24 April 2025 – Eye Filmmuseum is presenting the first European solo museum exhibition by US artist and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Garrett Bradley. In 2023, Bradley was awarded the Eye Art & Film Prize. 14 June through 7 September 2025.

68mm films inscribed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register

16 April 2025 – The Mutoscope and Biograph films (68mm) held in the collections of Eye Filmmuseum (Amsterdam), the British Film Institute (BFI, London), The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, New York) and the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC, Paris) have been added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register, assuring the future of this unique collection of large format films.

Tilda Swinton reveals creative collaborators for Eye exhibition

2 April 2025 – Celebrated Scottish performer, artist, and fashion icon Tilda Swinton is developing the exhibition Tilda Swinton – Ongoing exclusively for Eye Filmmuseum. Collaborating with esteemed figures from film and art, she is creating six new works for the show - which is on view from 28 September 2025.

Eye celebrates Columbia Pictures' anniversary

11 March 2025 – 3 through April, Eye Filmmuseum celebrates the 100th anniversary of the legendary Hollywood studio Columbia Pictures with the programme The Lady with the Torch, about the company's glory days.

Vincent van Velsen new Head of Exhibitions at Eye Filmmuseum

28 January 2025 – As from 1 February 2025, Vincent van Velsen will start as Head of Exhibitions at Eye Filmmuseum. Jaap Guldemond will hand over this leadership position to Van Velsen and transition into the newly created role of Founding Director of the Eye Art Collection.

Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien

22 January 2025 – Eye Filmmuseum is celebrating the legacy of Feministisch Film Kollektief Cinemien (1974-1989). Featuring (i.a.) 16mm projections, rarely screened titles from the Global South and newly restored works. 6 – 26 March 2025.
