12 May 2026 – Eye Filmmuseum presents Ulrich Seidl – Über das Leben, die Liebe und den Tod, the first exhibition in the Netherlands about the Austrian filmmaker, photographer and theatre-maker.

Queer Power: LGBTQ+-films in Eye Filmmuseum

8 April 2026 – With World Pride coming to Amsterdam this summer, there's reason enough for a summer programme of queer films from all over the world as a celebration of free-spirited diversity. Several films, such as The Watermelon Woman, will be released nationally.

4K restoration The Girl with the Red Hair

11 March 2026 – Eye Filmmuseum will release the 4K restoration of Ben Verbong's classic about resistance fighter Hannie Schaft in national film theatres and cinemas from 23 April. On Friday 17 April, there will be a special performance with cast & crew in the FilmKoepel, Haarlem (the former Koepel prison).

2001 – A Time Capsule

9 March 2026 – In its film programme 2001 – A Time Capsule, Eye Filmmuseum is marking the 25th anniversary of the year 2001 with a generous helping of nostalgia, screening 25 films that were released in 2001. The year proved to be a watershed year not only in film, but also in politics, technology and culture.

Eye’s Managing Director Bregtje van der Haak to Step Down

2 March 2026 – Bregtje van der Haak is stepping down as Managing Director of Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. Under her leadership, a far-reaching reorganisation was carried out, laying the foundation for a new phase of the organisation. Both Van der Haak and the Board of Trustees believe that this next phase calls for new leadership.

Eye presents Eye(s) Open

4 February 2026 – In the exhibition Eye(s) Open, eleven artists respond to the Eye Filmmuseum’s collection of some 2,000 colonial-era films from formerly occupied regions in Indonesia and Suriname. The artists have created ten new works based on these films.

Liberating Hollywood – Female Filmmakers of 1970s American Cinema

26 January 2026 – With Liberating Hollywood, Eye Filmmuseum screens the work of female directors in America in the 1970s. They pioneered the second feminist wave, but their work has rarely or never been seen in the Netherlands.

Exhibition Tilda Swinton – Ongoing extended through 15 March

20 January 2026 – Swinton will regularly return to Eye in the near future for various talks and introductions and a reprise of the intimate performance Bliss #2.

All Dick Maas films back on the big screen

6 November 2025 – Eye presents a complete overview of the work of Dick Maas, nicknamed 'the Dutch blockbuster king'. In 2026, Maas will celebrate his 75th birthday, which will also be forty years since the popular comedy Flodder shook up the film landscape.

Tilda Swinton – Ongoing: On Screen & In Conversation

24 June 2025 – Alongside the specially curated exhibition Tilda Swinton – Ongoing, Eye presents an extensive contextual programme featuring Scottish performer, artist, and fashion icon Tilda Swinton in conversation with the artistic collaborators who have contributed new work to the exhibition. Complementing these live events, Eye will screen more than forty films from Swinton’s body of work in its cinemas, alongside retrospectives dedicated to Joanna Hogg and Derek Jarman.

Three new Programmers of the Future present their film programmes this July

27 May 2025 – Including films about the magic of a spontaneous encounter in a public space, folklore, fairytales and mythology, and memory as an act of resistance. Kato van der Speeten, Alicia Bergamelli and Humie Pourseyf make up the third group in this annual training programme for future film programmers.

Sohrab Hura winnaar Eye Art & Film Prize 2025

20 May 2025 – The Indian artist Sohrab Hura (1981) is the eleventh winner of the Eye Art & Film Prize. Hura is awarded the prize for the compelling way he captures today's surreal reality in images.
