Posters

Eye manages approximately 56,000 unique posters from different countries and periods. Posters were usually made to promote films, but they can also be important in themselves. Eye collects and presents posters with artistic or film historical value.

The focus is on the collection of Dutch posters, but Eye also possesses foreign posters of Dutch films. For instance, we have unique designs from post-war Poland, the Czech Republic and Cuba, where especially beautiful posters were made between 1945 and 1965.

Newly acquired posters are registered on arrival, after which they are photographed and digitized. Eye keeps the posters lying flat in acid-free archival boxes, at a controlled temperature and humidity.
