Financial Support

To promote Dutch films abroad, directors and/or producers (sometimes leading actors or screenwriters) are often invited to attend the screening of their film at festivals. To visit a select number of festivals, SEE NL can provide a contribution towards the travel costs of directors and producers. To make use of this option, you must submit an application to international@eyefilm.nl prior to the trip.

Travel Grant Subsidy – Pilot Version 2024

To receive a travel grant, the following conditions must be met
- The application relates to a festival visit by the director and/or producer of the film in question.
- The invitation was extended by a festival listed on the SEE NL Travel Grant List.
- The festival has extended an official invitation and offers at least one of the invitees (either director or producer) at least 3 nights of accommodation.
- The travel grant scheme applies only to Dutch productions or Dutch majority co-productions. A modified scheme applies to minority feature co-productions. Please contact SEE NL for information on the latter.
- Per festival, a maximum of two travel grants per film can be applied for (1x director, 1x producer).
- Each year, it is possible to apply for travel grants for up to two festivals per film.
- Applications are preferably submitted at least four weeks before the start of the festival.
- Applications are made by email and should include the official festival invitation, which also confirms the number of nights of accommodation offered.
- If an application is made for both a director and a producer, it should be made in one single application.

Other terms and conditions
- SEE NL encourages taking more sustainable forms of travel. Going to a destination by train is awarded a sustainability bonus of €50, to be added to the invoice. This entails a declaration of 2/3 of the ticket price + €50, up to the maximum payable amount (see below for maximum payable amounts).
- Costs for additional public transport and/or taxi fares at the destination cannot be claimed.
- Costs incurred for making ticket changes and cancellations cannot be claimed either.
- If the destination is in Europe and you travel by car, we offer a mileage allowance of €0.21 per km. The maximum claimable amount remains equal to the promised contribution.
- The costs may not have already been reimbursed in any other way by SEE NL or third parties.

Budget

The travel grant budget is available for a select number of festivals. The budget is determined quarterly, depending on the total number of festivals. The size of the budget per quarter therefore fluctuates based on the number of festivals taking place in that quarter. In this way, the budget is distributed as evenly as possible throughout the year. However, this does not change the fact that the budget is finite. Travel grant applications can be considered by SEE NL as long as the financial resources are available. If the budget limit has been reached, travel grants can no longer be claimed.
