Meet the Archive (held annually) highlights the riches of Eye’s collection which comprises some 55,000 films, alongside dozens of directors’, film professionals’ and institutions’ archives. On 3 June 2023, our curators and restorers will talk about their latest research projects with subjects including film censorship, the forgotten works of early female filmmakers and the reuse of film excerpts from Eye’s collection in new (digital) artworks.

Programme 3 June 2023
The Meet the Archive day is split into four themed sections with attention paid to the history of silent films, new additions and discoveries, restorations, and the reuse of (found) film excerpts from the collection. There will also be talks on the use of sound and music, and the electro-acoustic collective Wanderwelle will present the definitive version of the experimental collage film The Four Nightmares.
Talks are conducted in English and admission is free for the programmes during the day.
Meet the Archive is part of the Eye International Conference 2023 which takes place in Eye from 3 through 7 June.
