Outside of official school holidays, the box office and restaurant open at 18:00 on Mondays; the exhibition is closed. During school holidays, we open at 10:00, including the exhibition.

Tickets can be purchased at our box office and via the film or exhibition sections of this website. The online presale stops 90 minutes prior to the screening.

Payment methods
Eye only accepts payment by credit or debit cards; we do not accept cash. Online you can pay via iDeal or credit card.

Reservations
It is not possible to reserve tickets for the film screenings. Only U&Eye and KNF-members and Cineville cardholders can make reservations. All reservations are cancelled half an hour before the screening starts. If reservations are not picked up on time, any extra fees that have already been paid cannot be refunded.

As described in Eye's terms and conditions, tickets cannot be restituted or exchanged once purchased.

* For film screenings, the reduced prices apply upon presentation of a valid Student ID, CJP- or EYCA-card, VriendenLoterij VIP-card or I amsterdam City Card. Members of film industry associations get discounts on film tickets upon showing their NBF-card. You are requested to show your discount card when entering the cinema.
** Children aged 12 and under have to be accompanied by an adult (aged 18+) at all times.

Bioscoop 10-daagse 2-for-1 promotion
The promotion is valid for screenings from Monday 21 September through Thursday 24 September 2026: purchase two regular movie tickets in a single transaction and get the second ticket for free. This offer cannot be combined with other discounts, vouchers, or special offers. Surcharges apply for special formats, such as 70mm and 3D.

Museumkaart
At the box office, you can purchase a Museumkaart that you can immediately use to visit the exhibitions. Museumkaart tickets can be reserved online and picked up at the front desk. An extra (one-time) supplement may be required for some exhibitions.

Stadspas
With the Amsterdam Stadspas, you can visit a film for €2 or the exhibitions for free. This promotion is valid for all films and exhibitions, excluding festivals. With the Stadpas, you can get one cinema ticket and one museum ticket per month.

Free seating
Tickets are sold without assigned seating; you can choose your own seat in the cinema. Doors generally open 15 minutes in advance.

Latecomers
Eye does not show adverts prior to a film's start. Once the feature has started, it is no longer possible to enter the cinema. Please keep this in mind.

Film ratings
Films are rated according to the Dutch Kijkwijzer. In keeping with Dutch laws, when visiting films rated for audiences aged 16+, you may be asked for ID and may be denied entry when unable to prove you are 16 or older. Children under the age of 12 need to be accompanied by someone aged 18 or older.

Eye is directly opposite Amsterdam Central Station. When arriving at the station, follow the signs to the IJzijde exit. You will already see Eye across the river.

Ferry
Take the ferry in the direction of Buiksloterweg (line F3). The 24/7 ferry service is free and leaves every few minutes. The ride to the other side takes less than five minutes. After arrival it is approximately a three-minute walk to Eye.

From Amsterdam-North, Eye can be reached with bus 38.

Mopeds/scooters
Eye Filmmuseum is located on IJpromenade, a cycling and pedestrian path where mopeds and scooters are not allowed. Please remember to park them before the bridge across the canal.

Car and parking
Eye does not have its own parking garage. The nearest garage, located directly next to Eye, is A'DAM Parking, underneath the adjacent A'DAM Tower. It's possible to reserve a parking space in advance via their website. On the other side of the IJ, there are larger car parks with more spaces: Parking Centrum Oosterdok and Parkeergarage IJDock. These also offer the option to reserve a parking space in advance. Both are located near Amsterdam Central Station, approximately a 20-minute walk from Eye.

Eye Collection Centre is located at Asterweg 26 in Buiksloterham, a neighbourhood in North Amsterdam. When arriving at Amsterdam Central Station, take the exit to IJzijde (IJ bank) to take the ferry.

Ferry
Take the ferry in the direction of Buiksloterweg. The 24/7 ferry service is free and leaves every few minutes. The ferry ride takes approximately three minutes.

Pedestrians/cyclists/mopeds
Eye Collection Centre (Asterweg 26) is a 15 to 20-minute walk or a 5-minute bicycle ride from the ferry terminal. Walk or cycle past Eye Filmmuseum and continue via Overhoeksparklaan, Bundlaan, Grasweg to Asterweg.When arriving by moped or scooter, continue straight on Buiksloterweg towards Ranonkelkade. Take the first turn on your left across the canal, then turn right into Docklandsweg, which continues into Asterweg.

Bus
The Collection Centre is in between the Grasweg or Distelweg stops on bus 38.

By car
Set your GPS to Asterweg 26. There are parking spaces along the street.

Eye's entire building is accessible to wheelchair users. The lift that takes you to the reception desk is located right next to the staircase to the main entrance.

All floors of Eye are accessible by lift. In Eye's cinemas, there are always two places reserved for wheelchair users. In Cinema 2 and 3, these places are at the back of the screening room, and in Cinema 1 and 4, they are in front of the room (first row). Pre-booking is not necessary, but we appreciate it if you notify us of your visit via info@eyefilm.nl, so we can be ready to assist you.

Seating
The seats in the cinema are 48 x 48 cm (diagonal 63 cm), the chairback is 72 cm high and 48 cm wide (diagonal 80 cm). The armrests are fixed.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed in the restaurant/the Arena, but not in exhibition spaces or cinemas. Dogs must always be on a leash and supervised. Guide dogs are of course welcome everywhere.

Companions
Visitors who cannot navigate the museum independently may bring a companion free of charge. The visitor personally requires a valid admission ticket for the temporary exhibition and our permanent exhibition What is Film?. For film screenings, both the visitor and the companion require a valid admission ticket. Will the visitor need assistance during the film screening? If so, please contact us in advance at info@eyefilm.nl so that we can best assist you during your visit.

Parking
There are two parking spots for people with a disability in the A'DAM Tower parking garage. Please take the exit 'A'DAM Tower' which has an automatic door to the outside.

Wheelchair and walker available
You can arrange for a wheelchair or walker in advance at the Eye front desk. Please email us at info@eyefilm.nl, mentioning the time and date you wish to visit.

Hearing loops
We have hearing loops in our rooms. Please ask our colleagues at the desk. With many modern hearing aids, the (M/)T position must be programmed before the hearing loop can be used; an audiologist or hearing care professional can do this.

Audio code script and subtitles via Earcatch(in Dutch)
The Earcatch app offers audio description for (premiere) films. If Earcatch offers audio description for a film, it is stated on the film page.

Groups larger than 15 people must always register for a visit at least two weeks in advance by sending an email to groepsbezoek@eyefilm.nl. If you register later, we may no longer be able to accommodate you.

School groups should always make use of one or more of our special educational tours and programmes when visiting. Please contact educatie@eyefilm.nl for advice.

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to visit Eye with your afterschool group, due to a lack of capacity.

If a group visit has not been registered, we may not be able to accommodate the group.

Eye has lockers and an unattended cloakroom. Use of these is at your own risk.

We do not have space to store folding bicycles, suitcases or other large items.

Bags and umbrellas may not be taken into the exhibition.
