Humour, horror and action. As a student at the Netherlands Film Academy in the seventies, Dick Maas had already realised what the basic ingredients of films that attract large audiences are. Unlike his fellow students, Maas aimed for films that combined tension, spectacle and cathartic laughter, while also making money at the box office.
