Eraserhead

David Lynch / US, 1976 / 88 min.

Cult classic by the recently deceased David Lynch. Henry, a young man, turns out to have become the father of a mutant-like creature. The young family lives in a post-apocalyptic environment, drenched in industrial noise. Grotesque, hypnotic and disturbing, vintage Lynch.

David Lynch's first feature film rightly deserves to be called cult. Henry Spencer, a somewhat slow, dull-looking young man with an eccentric mane of hair, is forced into marriage when he gets his girlfriend pregnant. The new family lives in a demolished building, where the newborn exerts true terror with his screams. One day, Henry's new wife has had enough; she leaves Henry alone with the monstrous baby.
