Moordwijven
Dick Maas / NL, 2007 / 100 min.
A few years after going bankrupt, Dick Maas made this scathing satire on the world of the super-rich; a kind of parody of series such as Gooische vrouwen or Desperate Housewives. With Bracha van Doesburgh, Hadewych Minis and Sanne Wallis de Vries as bored millionaires’ wives.

Millionaires’ wives Kitty, Estelle and Nicolette are regular clients at the plastic surgery clinics and chic retail outlets on Amsterdam’s upmarket PC Hooftstraat. Life is going swimmingly for them, until Kitty starts to suspect that her husband is cheating on her. The three of them decide there’s only one solution: put an end to the swinish sinner. They hire a Cliff Richard-worshiping hit man to do the job, but this turns out to be easier said than done.

In 2026, it will be forty years since the popular comedy Flodder shook up the film landscape. That same year, Dick Maas celebrates his 75th birthday — the perfect occasion for a look back at the work of the Dutch “king of genre,” who managed to draw millions of Dutch viewers to the cinema.
