The Seven Year Itch
Billy Wilder / US, 1955 / 105 min.
Billy Wilder’s first comedy with Marilyn Monroe is full of juicy allusions to adultery. The film obviously struck a chord with the narrow-minded American public of the early 1950s.

While his wife and son are on holiday, New Yorker Richard Sherman flirts with the woman (Marilyn Monroe) in the apartment above him. The Seven Year Itch was based on a successful play in which Sherman and ‘The Girl’, as she is referred to, actually end up in bed together.
