Eye International Conference 2018

The program will feature three invited keynote lecturers. On Sunday 27 May, Prof. Dr. Thomas Elsaesser, Professor Emeritus of Media and Culture, will kick off the conference with his lecture entitled Preservation and Presentation: Five Narratives to Activate the Archive. On Monday 28 May, Prof. Dr. Faye Ginsburg, Professor of Social Anthropology at New York University, will address the struggle of sustaining indigenous archives. On the same day, Prof. Dr. Julia Noordegraaf, Professor of Digital Heritage at UvA, will discuss the repurposing of audio-visual content through collaborative description.

The program contains varied presentations by 65 speakers from archives, museums, universities and cultural organisations all around the world: from Taiwan, Turkey, Switzerland, the Philippines, to Italy and Brazil.

The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and Eye Filmmuseum have established a travel grant programme for speakers of the Eye International Conference. The grants, up to 500 euro each, can be used to partially offset registration and travel costs. The travel grant programme is only open for speakers of the Eye International Conference 2018.

The call for application is now closed and 7 speakers have been awarded a travel grant.
