The Hitchcock Touch will take place from 24 July through 12 October 2014 and will be accompanied by live music, a lecture series, and special performances.
This summer, Eye is honouring the most iconic and influential director of all time, Alfred Hitchcock, with a major retrospective including nine restored silent films. These Hitchcock 9 can be seen in the Netherlands for the first time. For the restoration of these seldom shown first films, material from the Eye collection has been used.

Thirty years after his death, Alfred Hitchcock is still an iconic figure in popular culture. His Vertigo was voted best film of all time by film magazine Sight and Sound.
Alfred Hitchcock was known not only for his love of blonde actresses but also for his brilliant screenplays and visual inventions, which have lost none of their power. Hitchcock has left his mark on many art forms and still appeals to the imagination.

With The Hitchcock Touch, Eye brings the most important films by the Master of Suspense back to the silver screen, ranging from his English sound films of the 1930s, classic masterpieces like Rear Window, Vertigo and Psycho, to later films like Torn Curtain and Frenzy.
These later films are often characterized by an exuberant mix of espionage, romance, humour and suspense, though Hitchcock also had an eye for the tormented human psyche (Rebecca), and challenged several taboos (Janet Leigh’s brassiere in Psycho).

He made films in England and in Hollywood, from silent film to sound film, from black and white to color and in various film styles. In total, more than 45 titles will be screened, partly restored and digitized, as well as in vintage 35mm prints from the Eye collection and fellow film archives.
