In Eye, we regularly host film screenings that are accompanied by an in-depth introduction, a panel discussion or a Q&A with, for example, the director. We record some of these conversations and talks, so that you can listen to them even if you were unable to attend the screening in question.

On 30 July 2025, a special screening of Andy, bloed en blond haar took place at Eye Filmmuseum, attended by director Frank Wiering. This is a recording of the conversation Eye programmer Ronald Simons had with him.

The preview of Jeunes mères took place on 12 August 12 2025 at Eye, in the presence of director Luc Dardenne and cast members. The Q&A is in French/English.

Q&A with Mohammad Reza Aslani

On 11 July 2025, filmmaker Mohammad Reza Aslani, one of the most enigmatic and visionary figures in Iranian cinema, was a guest at Eye Filmmuseum for a Q&A (his first in continental Europe) with Programmer of the Future Humie Pourseyf. A rare opportunity to hear directly from an artist whose vision has remained vital, daring, and deeply resonant throughout the decades.

Toxic: inleiding door filmjournalist Joost Broeren-Huitenga

On 10 July 10 2025, film journalist Joost Broeren-Huitenga visited Eye Filmmuseum to introduce Toxic (Saulė Bliuvaitė, 2024). The film is screening at Eye and in national cinemas.

Seven Samurai: Introduction by Peter Verstraten

Peter Verstraten (Leiden University) gave an introduction (in Dutch) to Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai on 29 June. This monumental action-adventure film – starring legendary actors Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura – interweaves philosophy and entertainment, subtle human emotions and ruthless action into a rich, evocative historical thriller and moral-political fable in one. The film inspired countless filmmakers, such as Peter Jackson, John Sturges, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Peckinpah and Sergio Leone.

MovieZone presents: Kinotalk - Keti Koti | Dia di Abolishon edition

To celebrate Keti Koti in 2025, MovieZone and Filling Pieces presented a special KinoTalk: an evening of new voices, film, fashion and art coming together to celebrate the heritage of the diaspora. Guest curator Dwight Neville put together a powerful programme of film screenings, a panel discussion moderated by UMA Society, live performances, music and an exhibition.

The Garden of Earthly Delights: Q&A with Morgan Knibbe

On 9 June, director Morgan Knibbe visited Eye for a Q&A (in English) led by Programmer of the Future Kato van der Speeten. The Garden of Earthly Delights is Knibbe's first feature film, he previously attracted attention with, among others, the dramatised documentary Those Who Feel the Fire Burning (2015, Golden Calf Best Documentary).

Abortus, van breinaald tot politiek steekspel

This edition of Meet the Archive centres on filmmaker (and original member of the Dolle Mina feminist movement) Hillie Molenaar, occasioned by her 80th birthday and the recent digitisation of her film Abortus: van breinaald tot politiek steekspel (1978).

Het meisje met het rode haar: Q&A met regisseur Ben Verbong en DOP Theo van de Sande

On 4 May 4 2025, director Ben Verbong and director of photography Theo van de Sande, together with cast and crew members, were guests at Eye for the premiere of the new remastering of Het meisje met het rode haar(1981), the Dutch film classic about resistance fighter Hannie Schaft (Renée Soutendijk's first leading role).

Albert Serra was present in Eye on 3 May 2025 for a conversation with programmer Thijs Havens.

Q&A Marina Abramović - Body Art (1975)

On 30 April 2025, Marina Abramović was present in Eye for the world première of Body Art, the documentary on Abramović’s first-ever performance in the Netherlands (De Appel, 1975). This piece for TV arts programme Beeldspraak was never broadcast at the time because of its supposedly shocking nature.

Home Game: Q&A with director Lidija Zelovic

On 23 April 2025, filmmaker Lidija Zelovic was a guest at Eye for a Q&A on her film Home Game, about the classic emigrant question: what is home? Zelovic and her family fled the Yugoslav civil war in 1993 to the Netherlands, a country that has since fallen into the grip of right-wing populism. The Q&A (in English) was led by program maker Yula Altchouler.

Woningnood in Amsterdam

Lecture by Marcel van Engelen, author of De stad – het verhaal van Amsterdam van 1980 tot vandaag (2024) about housing shortage, long-term vacancies, speculators and squatting; recurring subjects on Amsterdam’s political agenda. The huge deficit of homes has been leading to revolt since the 1970s. This audio has been recorded during Woningnood in Amsterdam (housing crisis in Amsterdam) on 8 April 2025 in Eye Filmmuseum.

Dilan Yurdakul on Nuri Bilge Ceylan

On 25 March 2025, Turkish-Dutch actress, theater maker and writer Dilan Yurdakul was a guest at Eye. Using fragments from the work of Nuri Bilge Ceylan, she entered into a conversation with Asli Özgen-Havekotte, university lecturer in Media and Culture at the UvA and Scholar-in-Residence at Eye Filmmuseum. Özgen-Havekotte specializes in Turkish cinema and feminist and postcolonial film theory. They discussed, among other things, the impact of migration on family and social circles.

An evening with Victoria Warmerdam and Nina Gantz

On 26 March 2025, Oscar winner Victoria Warmerdam (I'm Not a Robot) and Oscar nominee and BAFTA winner Nina Gantz (Wander to Wonder) were guests at Eye to celebrate their success. The two recent short films and two previous films by the makers were screened, with this Q&A before the screenings, led by VPRO film journalist Noa Johannes.

The Propagandist: Q&A with director Luuk Bouwman and researcher Rik Binnendijk

On 28 March 2025, director Luuk Bouwman and researcher Rik Binnendijk were guests at Eye for the screening of The Propagandist. This is the Q&A afterwards, led by moderator Yula Altchouler.

Opening Night: Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien

On 8 March, International Women's Day, the opening night of the film programme Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien took place in Eye Filmmuseum. The conversations that were held there were recorded to listen to (again) at your own convenience. Including speeches by Pauline Terreehorst (Cinemien), Gerdien Smit (Eye) and an interview with filmmakers Barbara Meter and Trilby Fairfax about their film Honderd beledigingen per dag (One Hundred Insults a Day). The Brutalist: Q&A with cinematographer Lol Crawley

On 3 February, Lol Crawley attended the first screening of The Brutalist at Eye Filmmuseum, shown on 70mm. He was interviewed by screenwriter Roelof Jan Minneboo.
